Foreign Language Club Celebrates National French Week

Foreign+Language+Club+Celebrates+National+French+Week

Foreign language and French Clubs worldwide are celebrating their favorite week of the year from the 5th of Nov. to the 11th, also known as National French Week. This is a week in which teachers and students recreate parts of the French culture, eat French foods, and go to French events. It’s also used as an educational purpose for the croissant-loving students to grasp a deeper understanding of “Français”.

French teacher Emily Thomas’s classes and her French Club are studying the culture by having a French food tasting and party.

“I brought cheese and some different type of muffin,” said sophomore Clarie DeSpain.

There were many other foods brought to the taste test beside DeSpain’s though, like croissants, cakes, and Perrier water.

Around the nation, there are many different parts to National French Week held and led by the American Association of Teachers of French. This group plans an entire week of French themes to experience during the festive week. There are themes for each day like food day, art day, technology day, and music/dance day. There are also many art projects. Students recreate French art pieces and feature the famous artists who drew them.

There are many ideas for French teachers to pull from to give their students an amazing week of cultural learning. Events range from out of school to in school event, from French seminars to eating French food. Luckily for the teachers, they have a wide range of traditions to choose from. However, any part of the culture they choose to introduce to students will be an exciting learning experience for all.
