The play “Proof,” performed by One Act Play, is about a college student named Catherine, played by Caroline Klapp, who is battling mixed emotions after the death of her mathematician father, who was a profesor at the University of Chicago. She is also confused about her emotions with one of her father’s graduate students, Harold Dobbs who is played by Tad Smith. The play revolves around notebooks that her father left behind that were filled with mathematics.
All of the actors performed expertly. I can honestly say that I would never be able to perform an entire play in front of the whole school, much less perform a kissing scene in the case of Catherine and Harold. The roles were preformed smoothly and all of the lines were recited precisely and fluidly. Minus the occasional yet minuscule smirk from Catherine when the entire high school whooped and clapped for her kissing scene and her moments of anger, all of the actors were totally in character and didn’t falter hardly at al.
