The school year has begun, and so has the buzz about the new fashion trends walking around the halls of our school.
Many of the styles that are “in” right now are ones that have made a recent comeback. High-waisted shorts, for example, were an extremely catchy style back from the 40’ and 70’s and have recently resurfaced popularity. These shorts have buttons that go all the way up to the stomach. What’s the purpose? Well for one, they make the waist look smaller to give a more curvy look. They also can make almost any outfit look “hipster”, which is currently considered “trendy”.
Another hit clothing item that is also a flashback from the past is the mixed pattern trend. This 70’s based style is when you have at least two different patterns in one outfit. However, one rule to this trend is “never wear more than 3 patterns in the same outfit” as says Sophie from The Forge. So with the right patterns and color mix, this style can rock any hallway.
People are constantly spotted wearing long, flowing skirts, helping bring back yet another style from the 70’s. These maxi skirts make a very nice-matched outfit that generally contains a patterned skirt with a simple tank top. Fun, light, cute. The perfect combination!
Naturally, the fashion wheel is turning and old styles are coming back around along with the word and the wear of high-waisted shorts, mixed patterns, and long maxi skirts. So if someone feels like being an “in-style” kind of person, then this is the way to go!
