Sophomores have been reading Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. In celebration of the famous author’s birthday, Mrs. Fischer provided a birthday cake and decorated the room to honor the special occasion. Students were surprised to see the cake and decorations when they arrived at school Friday morning.
For those that don’t know the famous author, her only published work is the one hit wonder To Kill a Mockingbird. However, her work has had a lasting impact on millions of students who have read the book as a part of their curriculum.
Harper Lee turned 87 years old today. To Kill a Mockingbird is a ‘coming of age’ novel about a young girl, a trial, and the issues of the deep south. Mrs. Fischer wanted to honor Harper Lee because they just finished reading the book.
