Mumford and Sons on Fire

Mumford+and+Sons+on+Fire

The Mumford and Sons band were ‘on fire’ at their concert Sept. 19 at the Gexa Energy Pavilion. Their folk/rock vibe was ringing throughout the 31,000 square foot outdoor venue, which seats around a total of 19,500 people and Mumford and Sons was able to fill the entire center.

The concert started with two opening bands, the Mystery Jets and the Johnny Flynn Band. They successfully made the crowd energetic and excited for the following performance by Mumford and Sons, ending with an amazing encore. They closed the show with “The Dust Bowl Dance”, but the minute they stepped off stage, the crowd’s voices rose to a roar, all in unison, shouting “ENCORE!”. Without fail, Mumford and Sons and the two opening bands came back on stage when the crowd reached its loudest yells. All the bands then sung a couple songs together with Mumford and Sons finishing the concert with one of their most famous songs “The Cave”.

This concert was originally scheduled to be on the 7th of June this past summer, but the bassist, Ted Dwane, was tragically diagnosed with a blood clot in the brain, so they rescheduled the concert Sept. 19. However, since he has fully recovered and the band is back in the swing of things, the lead singer, Marcus Mumford, stopped in-between songs to dedicate the concert to Ted Dwane and his health, and to a simply happy and exciting concert. And that is exactly what it was: happy, exciting, and unforgettable.
