Sharp Objects Book Review

Sharp Objects Book Review

The novel “Sharp Objects” by Gillian Flynn is a book for anyone who loves a good mystery.  This was Flynn’s debut novel and it did not disappoint. The main character Camille is a reporter for a small Chicago newspaper who is sent to her hometown in Missouri to cover a series of murders. The killer is known for snatching little girls who have a reputation for being more tough and tomboyish, and once they’ve been murdered their teeth are pulled out. The series of murders leaves the police and investigators very confused until Camille begins to see connections between the killings and her own deceitful family. The reader will learn that Camille has a very troubled past, and her upbringing will also tie into the motives of the killer. This story goes through many twists and turns before the immensely satisfying end is revealed. Flynn does an  impressive job at solving the murders but also articulating the troubling thoughts of Camille.

Gillian Flynn has had three books on the New York Times Bestseller list: “Gone Girl,” “Sharp Objects,” and “Dark Places.”
