The Lady Eagles softball team faced the Sanger Lady Indians Tues. March 18 at the Argyle softball fields in an intense game that resulted in a Lady Eagles victory.

“Going into the game we knew it was going to be a tough competition because we have played Sanger every year and they always have a good program,” senior Alyssa Bruton said. “Our mentality was that this game was going to help us prepare for district.  It was so awesome to finally beat them and everyone is definitely feeling confident going into district.”

The competition stayed intense throughout the game, leading towards a tough seventh inning.  Bruton was able to hit a home run aiding to the Lady Eagles score.

“How I felt going up was that I just wanted to give a good lead off for our team,” Bruton said. “I just wanted to get on base and maybe get a double so that I could already be in scoring position for the next hitter who came up because I knew we just needed one run. I wasn’t really thinking home run at all.”

At the top of the seventh inning, Sanger had the bases loaded with no outs, but Bruton was able to finish the game with solid pitching.  The game was ended with senior Bailey Sutton’s diving catch in the outfield to finish off the seventh inning.  The game ended in victory for the Lady Eagles with a win of 3-2.
