Freshman, Laina Sorensen will compete in the state cross country meet on Saturday at 10:40 a.m. at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, Texas.

In a pre-state interview this week, Laina revealed her competitive nature.

“I like to increase my time,” she said. “And, I’d like to set a personal record.”

Laina has been running since elementary school when a club was formed for the school, and she is really excited to be participating in the state meet as a freshman.

“It’s nice,” she said. “But it would be better if the whole team could go.  I’m glad that coach is letting a couple of them go though.”

She said that the seniors have helped her get her times down be giving her tips such as pulling her arms in tighter, and she is already looking forward to track and field in the spring.

“I just like to run, get my times down, get better,” she said.
