Boys Soccer Suffers Defeat Against Guyer 0-4

With a final score of 0-4, Eagles soccer lost to Denton Guyer in their third district game Friday, Feb. 15 at home.

This is the first year the boys have faced Guyer, and the team realizes the errors that led to the loss.

“We just didn’t play very many passes and we weren’t very good in the defense,” Drew Estrada, freshmen, said.

“We didn’t possess in the midfield,” Nathan Dealy, senior captain, said. “We need to make more offensive runs and moves on the ball.”

As it is early in the season, the game was not crucial to the boys’ district standings. Later, however, improvements will need to be made to beat Guyer when the play again March 8.

“Probably more people in the back,” Estrada said, “And defense, and shooting, and attacking.”

“Getting back on the counter,” Ben Irons, junior captain, said. “Probably three of their four goals came from counter attacks.”

Though losing to Guyer was hard, the players are looking forward to the next opportunity for redemption.

“This game is motivation,” Konnor Holt, sophomore, said. “With more practice and working on our weaknesses, I’m confident we can win next time.”
