Last Friday, the tennis team traveled to Boswell to play a dual match. Boswell is a 4A school, therefore the tennis team had great competition in order to prepare for the upcoming 3A teams they will face in district.

“We fell short in both matches,” said junior Evan Welsh. “My partner and I believe that they stacked their players because the first match was much harder competition than the second. However, we got great practice competing against harder players because of this.”

Though the competition was tough, the weather was finally beautiful and made conditions much easier to play in, in comparison to the past tournament.

“It was a nice relief from playing in the harsh weather from the first tournament,” Welsh said. “Weather conditions make a huge difference in the quality of play.”

Unfortunately the team hasn’t seen the last of the frigid weather. This next Friday, the team takes on the cold weather conditions once again in a tournament against 4A school, Byron Nelson, with the high unlikely to exceed 39 degrees.

Hopefully the team can pull through, forget about the cold weather, and do well in the tournament. Come out and support your Argyle tennis team!
