The Argyle Eagle baseball team has started the season off with a winning streak, earning a record of 17-2. They will go into district ranked second in the state.
Leading the charge are junior pitcher Drew Gooch and senior third baseman Davis Coghlan. As the anchor of the Eagles pitching staff, Gooch has done well against his opponents. With G0och’s success, the team believes few opponents can hinder this years season.
“Drew has added velocity to his fastball this year making his other pitches better which is the key to his success on the mound,” Coach Ricky Griffin said.
On the offensive side of the game there is Coghlan. Davis leads the team in batting average so far.
“Davis’ hitting is like Neo from the Matrix,” said Coach Wayne Harp.
With Gooch and Coghlan’s play a pleasant surprise this season, the team, coaches and fans alike are looking forward to district.
