Fall Nail Ideas

As the weather gets chillier, it’s the perfect time to start trying out some new nail designs that match the change in season.

An easy way to stay on trend is to update your fall nail color pallet. You can do this by shifting from bright summer colors to warmer, deeper toned paints: muted reds, auburns, nudes. Essie Raspberry Red, Essie Demure Vixen, and, from the OPI Germany Collection, Schnapps Out of It, are all perfect polishes to achieve this look, as seen in the pictures above.

Another simple way to jazz up your manicure is to play with negative space. In order to create the white checkered nail design above, all you need is a thin tip brush and white nail polish. It is quick, easy, and a perfect way to add a pop to your fall wardrobe.

For those who love classic nail designs, the reverse french manicure is the perfect way to switch up your normal nail routine. First, coat the nail from the bed in an upward motion about half-way up with white polish. Then place a sticker over the nail bed, while still covering a small portion of white. After the sticker is in place, coat the nail in a cute fall nude for an effortless way to create this look. (Helpful hint: peel off the sticker while the nude polish is still a little wet for a cleaner line!)

Adding a matte top coat to any fall polish is another great alternative to a simple color and clear coat. A cute cluster of jewels at the base of one nail takes the look to a new level and is easily achievable, as well.

Holographic glass nails are another must-try trend. Simply place pieces of film sticker, holographic tape, or foil to the nail over a base coat. Then add a top coat to hold it in place. This is a fun way to try out nail applique for a more three dimensional look. Add a clear jewel just above the nail bed to further enhance the design.

A simple floral pattern can easily put your fall manicure over the edge. As seen in the picture, a deep purple eggplant color is the perfect base for the design. Using a large dotting tool, create the petals of the flowers in multiple colors. Then go back with a smaller size dotting tool (you can use a tooth pick if you don’t have this tool), and dot the center of the flowers with a different color. Create flowers at different places on the nail for a more delicate design.
