The boys and girls cross country teams once again are aiming for a state title with the boys lead by the senior Ben Splain with juniors Spencer Strachan and Alberto Barraza turning in multiple impressive finishes as well. With two victory’s including several individual top five performances, the boys a certainly going to be reckoned with when state rolls around.

The girls team is an interesting one, not because of their success, but because that they are lead by two freshman, Lanie Rodgers and Rhylie McKinney. They lead the team in the 3200, 5000, and 5200 disciplines.  Lanie has four top five and five top ten finishes in 6 races and Rhylie has 3 top five finishes in 6 races.

“They’re really good,” junior Madison Peltier said. “They’ve been a huge lift.”

Juniors Kaley Allen and Morgan White have also had great finishes with Allen finishing 14th out of 220 runners in the Metroplex Challenge on Sept 22nd and White finishing 4th in the first two races of the year to get the season under-way. The Eagles have one more meet until district on October 7th in Mansfield.

“We really don’t know how good we are until then but the early results have been very promising,” Peltier said.
