Haunted Houses Remain Open for Valentine’s Day Scares

Many people get in the haunted house spirit during Halloween time. That’s not quite the case here in North Texas. Haunted Houses all around the area prepare to open over Valentine’s weekend.

“I think haunted houses opening on Valentine’s Day is a couples thing.” Junior Maddie DeGuire said. “The company the haunted house belongs to probably just does it for the money but it’s really smart honestly. It gets girlfriends scared and the boys can be there for them.”

Haunted houses such as Cutting Edge located in Ft Worth, the Parker House in Denton, Dan’s Haunted House in Denton, Moxley Manor Haunted House, and several others are open for Valentines Day dates.

“I’ve been to the Parker House in Denton over Valentine’s Day a couple years ago and it was the exact same as the Halloween version.” Sophomore Gabby Standifer said. “Except a lot more couples.”

This has escalated to be a more popular event each year.

“My boyfriend and I are probably going to go this year to either the Parker House or Cutting Edge.” Junior Kayla Haynes said. “I’m honestly so scared of haunted houses, but he’s probably even more scared of stuff like that than I am.”

These haunted houses don’t receive as much business as they do during Halloween time, but are a fun way to give a good scare to those who participate.

“We usually do the typical dinner date and dessert every Valentine’s Day, but this year we’re aiming for something different.” DeGuire said. “At least I’m hoping my boyfriend will do something different, haunted houses are so exciting and thrilling.”

All haunted houses in the North Texas area will be open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night on Valentine’s weekend.
