A Today Show Book Club selection and National Bestseller, Broken For You, by Stephanie Kallos, is an emotional roller coaster full of laughs and tears. A story that shows the unbreakable bonds of love, Broken For You, is the first novel author Stephanie Kallos has published, and it has made a wonderful introduction to her writing.

In Broken for You, two unlikely friends become housemates, eventually forming a friendship that will last a lifetime healing both of their hearts. Margaret Hughes is an elderly lady that lives alone in a beautiful mansion filled with hundreds of antiques that were passed down to her. After going to the doctor one day, Margaret finds out that she has a brain tumor. Margaret walks out of the office with no treatment and decides to make a change in her life before she leaves this world. She puts up an ad for a room to rent in her mansion and soon finds, Wanda Schultz, a broken-hearted woman who would be Margaret’s healer. The pair works well together, two broken people pretending to be okay for the sake of one another. After several events and encounters, the two seem to figure out that they aren’t the only ones who feel in pieces. As their friendship continues and the women grow closer, they open up to each other about secrets no one else knows. While sharing with Wanda, Margaret leaves out an important detail, her health; a decision that would come back to haunt her. In the end, their tight bond pieces their hearts back together.

The beginning of the book is not the most entertaining, but it gets more engaging as the story unfolds. Broken for you is, what some would say, a little bit of a girly book because there is no action or grand adventure in the plot. Warning to all the highly sensitive people out there, the tears will fall. Stephanie Kallos pulls off an amazing story that will warm your heart.

Broken for You is a beautifully written book full of emotions.  The book may teach a lesson or two about the ups and downs of love. Although the book comes off as a downer, there are many jokes and laughs thrown in to help lighten the mood; the book leaves the reader with laughter, tears, and a lesson.

As her debut novel, author Stephanie Kallos has shown the world that she is a phenomenal writer who will hopefully bring more stories throughout her career. Broken for You shows how romantic love isn’t the only kind of love that can heal. Although the book is a little under four hundred pages, it is undeniably worth the time.
