This year the high school welcomed freshman Gracie Arthur as the 2015-2016 mascot. Arthur, prior to entering high school, helped her dad out by posing as the “Chick-fil-A” cow. The cheer team, along with the mascot, have been working to improve school spirit and believe adding Arthur is the perfect start.

“I wanted to be the mascot because it looked like a lot of fun,” Arthur said. “I felt like it would be a good experience.”

Being a freshman meant Arthur had a lot to learn, but she started preparing before the season to ensure she was ready for pep rallies and games.

“I went to mascot camp in June,” Arthur said. “I expected that I would have to put in a lot of hard work, but it would pay off.”

Arthur has become a great addition to the team and has really helped improve school spirit.

“It’s really nice having someone that is enthusiastic about learning and improving,” Senior cheer captain Micki Hirschhorn said. “She works extremely hard and we can always count on her for new ideas.”

Arthur looks forward to Friday nights and hopes to continue being the mascot the next three years.

“My favorite part is definitely getting to meet the fans,” Arthur said.

You can find the new Eagle at all the football games and pep rallies. Arthur will most likely greet you with a hug and some great dance moves.
