The Denton Square is full of small treasures from retro candy shops to record stores to dainty bistros. A fast growing favorite of the square is the hip burger joint, LSA Burgers.

The restaurant has two levels along with both indoor and outdoor seating on the rooftop that looks over the square.

Found in the name LSA or Lone Star Attitude, the decorations mix modern style with Texas pride, featuring a painting that puts a twist on Leonardo Da Vinci’s last supper with famous Texans including Willie Nelson. And, if the country music or large Texas sculpture made from guitars, banjos, and scrap metal isn’t a dead giveaway to the Texas theme, each burger is named after a beloved Texans featuring the “Georgie Boy” from George Straight and “Stevie” from Stevie Ray Vaughan.

The waiters at LSA each offer southern courtesy in line with the restaurant’s theme. You’re greeted by smiles and offered the best service during your meal.

From Thursday through Saturday, live music is played up on the rooftop bar, but even on quiet nights, the rooftop displays a perfect view of the square, especially at sunset.

Lines at LSA can easily get long during weekends and dinner hours, so swing by earlier to reserve a table or call ahead of time. If you do end up with a long wait, leave your phone number with the host and wander around and enjoy what the square has to offer. They’ll text you when your table is ready, and if you won’t make it back in time, simply text back to give your table away.

With all of the hype from the decorations and the music, the bar is set pretty high for the quality of food. Fortunately it easily surpasses any expectations. For an appetizer, the garlic-parmesan herb fries are a highly recommended choice and great can tie over any party until the main course arrives.

The patties, near half-pounders made daily in McKinney, are the gleaming star of the restaurant. They hold a thick, salty and savory flavor that compliments the sweet buns, also made daily by Garland’s La Françoise Bakery. The Waylon stands out as the favorite burger, which comes with mayonnaise, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.

If you’re looking for a relaxed night or even a vibrant, music filled night, LSA Burgers is a must when it comes to dinner plans on the square.
