With back-to-back runner-up finishes at the state tournament in 2012 and 2013, the Eagle golf program has shown what they can accomplish. Continuing their success into 2014, the top five boys, Tommy Parker, Matt Garnett, Lance Roden, Alex Isakson, and Parker Love placed first in the Steele Awards Invitational at Robson Ranch, adding to their margin of victory.

The victory boosted the boys confidence; however, there is always room for improvement for each player.

“As a team the win is good even though I played poorly,” junior Tommy Parker said.  “The other four kids on our team stepped up and won the tournament and for me, I need to get better.”

The Eagle golf team blew out the competition at Robson, shooting a combined  total for both days of 601.

“I feel like we played pretty solid,” junior Alex Isakson said. “Not as good as we should have, but we still played good.”

With three of the five players shooting a total of 150 for both days, Argyle golf looks very threatening to other golf school programs and is a strong contender for this year’s state tournament.  In addition, the team is confident in their scoring ability.

“601 or anything below it  at State is ideal,” Parker said. “The scores are usually higher at State but if we shoot that score we should win by quite a bit.”
