JV Football Prepares to Step Up for Next Year’s Varsity

The junior varsity football team is showing dominance throughout the first two games of the season.  In both games against Abilene Wylie and Denison, the JV eagles scored 30+ points in their victories with great defensive play along the way, allowing the offense to capitalize.

Members of the team feel confident in their play so far in the season and hope to continue their success.

“I feel like my performance has been great,” WR Blake Llewellyn said.  “I’ve been able to play a little more and it’s been fun so far.”

There are high expectations for JV this year and so far they have lived up to it.

“I believe as a team we are doing well,” DT Pratyush Joshi said.  “We have proven this in the two regular season games we’ve played. We have a lot of talent on the field!”

Though varsity will suffer some losses from the talented seniors leaving next year, including RB Nick Ralston, a Arizona State University commit, there are up and coming JV players that feel they can make an impact on varsity.

“We may have many possible move-ups this year,” Joshi said.  “I think they will play well on the field. With the talent they have and the tremendous football program that Argyle has, there are a lot of positives for years to come.”

The JV squad feels prepared and ready to take on their arch rival, the Celina Bobcats, this Thursday at Celina high school.

“Celina is a good opponent,” Llewellyn said.  “I think we have practiced hard this week and I believe we can come out with a big win.”
