The number 24 holds a very special place in many people’s hearts. For Argyle, 24 holds the memories of this year’s senior graduating class. We began our journey in 2011 at Hilltop Elementary at age five. Disney Pixar’s Cars 2 was released into theaters as the Texas Rangers won the American League and went to the World Series for the second year in a row. Popular shows at the time included The Voice and Wild Kratts, released to networks across the country.
Kindergarten was a learning experience for young children to make friends and help their fellow classmates. Lifelong memories created during this year includes attending a field trip to the Fort Worth Zoo and celebrating the 100th day of school by dressing like an elderly person.
2011 began a great start to our 13 years as an Eagle. As we made our way through elementary school, the Class of ‘24 bonded while spending a full week field trip at Forest Glen. There, we were able to see the native fish, canoe and swim, and perform skits in front of the entire class. We came home from a fun and exhausting trip, unknowing that the Class of ‘24 had only just begun. We walked into Argyle Intermediate for fifth grade in the 2016-17 school year, where we saw mammoth fossils, played “Three Step” in PE class, and drank slushies during lunch.
As quickly as it started, we soon exited the intermediate. The Class of ‘24 attended Argyle Middle School for the first time with new responsibilities. Many of us went on different trajectories, from joining band, pre-athletics, art, theater, or choir. As middle school progressed, our class broke records, won competitions and games, and performed at national festivals. As we left for spring break of our 8th grade year, we were unaware of the changes soon to come.
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization declared a global pandemic. We returned to school not via the classrooms, but instead virtually on Chromebooks. As the last year of middle school came to an end, we waved goodbye to our teachers through car windows and began our journey to high school. We walked in on the first day of freshman year wearing masks and getting our temperature checked at the front door. High school was nothing like we had ever anticipated, but despite all of the challenges, our class was able to commit to the Argyle standard by winning state championships for football, marching band, boys basketball, and academics.
Sophomore year began with a newly-renovated Canyon Falls campus. We returned to a fresh building and began to return to more traditional practices post-pandemic. Many of us got driver’s licenses and started navigating the campus parking lots. With time came change and surprises. During junior year, Argyle became a 5a school district. Despite many student’s anxiety
surrounding competing against larger districts, we showed off our amazing talents. On Aug. 17, 2023, we walked into the school for our last first day of school. Throughout our senior year we began to apply for colleges, enlist in the military, or join the workforce. We were all excited to walk the stage and finally move on to the next chapter of our lives. From day one, we have been together. After 13 years growing, learning, and helping one another, our time as Eagles has come to an end. Our K-12 career has been a big rollercoaster ride with challenges that we’ve overcome as a class. These challenges have only furthered the Class of ‘24’s potential.
