Clenching another win and solidifying the district championship during its first year in 5A Division II football, the Eagles celebrated their seniors with a 50-24 victory over Carrollton Creekview on Thursday night at Eagle stadium.

“Our kids were amazing,” head coach Todd Rodgers said. “I’m pleased with the effort and the intensity and the performance.”

The Eagles started the game undefeated and ranked number one in the state for 5A (24 in Texas) according to Max Preps. Rodgers pulled many of the senior starters after the first quarter to allow the second and third-stringers valuable play time but noted that even on the sidelines, the seniors were a factor with their leadership.

“They love what they are doing,” he said. “They have all spent time, energy, effort, and work. The benefit is getting out there and playing, and [they are] absolutely great teammates.  That’s the reason why they are really good in their senior leadership this year.”

Next week, the undefeated Eagles (10-0) will compete for the bi-district championship at home against Fort Worth ISD’s O.D. Wyatt HS (8-3).
