Golf Heads to State

On April 23 and 24, Eagle Golf competed in the UIL Boys 4A Regional Tournament in Van Zandt Country Club in Canton, Texas. In the tournament, there were 16 teams that competed, and out of those teams, the top two moves on to Horseshoe Bay to compete in the state tournament.
In the first day of the tournament, Argyle sat third in the tournament, only one stroke behind Bullard High School. Argyle was led by Junior Logan Diomede, where he shot a 78 or +6 par. He was tied for the fifth best score of the first day. Logan also made the All-Region Team for his excellent play in Canton. Argyle was also led by Cole Wilson, where he shot a 79 or a +7 on the day.
On the second day of the tournament, Argyle bounced back, where they edged out Bullard High School by two strokes to place second in the tournament. And move to the state tournament in Horseshoe Bay. Will Gilster led the team on the second day shooting a 75 on the day or a +3, ending the tournament with a score of +13, second best for Argyle, behind Diomede. Diomede shot again a 78 to end the tournament at +12 and tie for 8th.
Argyle also had good performances from Senior Luke Griggs, who shot a +11 on day one and a +8 on day two, to end the tournament with a score of +19 tied with Cole Wilson for 24th place. Freshman Justus Christman who struggled on day one with a score of +14, but he came back big in day two shooting just three over par to end with +17 and he placed 21st.
Argyle will be moving on to the UIL Boys 4A State Tournament in Horseshoe Bay at the Apple Rock golf course for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament will start on Monday, May 14th and will continue on May 15th.
