This past weekend, the boys soccer team defeated Alvarado in the Area round of the playoffs. After the end of regulation and two overtime periods, the game was still tied 1-1. This sent it into a PK shootout, where the Eagles defeated Alvarado 4-1.

“It was a good win,” junior midfielder Travis Garner said, “hard fought win.”

The Eagles are now entering the Regional round of UIL 4A playoffs. Last season, they advanced all the way to the state tournament for the first time in school history. The Eagles would like to repeat their success for the second straight year.

“We just need to stay confident, and do what we have to do to keep winning,” Garner said.

While the Eagles were able to pull of the victory, they were not completely satisfied with the win. The game remained close throughout and went all the way to PK’s.

“We didn’t play the best game, but I’m very glad that we pulled the win off in the end,” Rigsby said. “We really have to step up on defense.”

Today, the Eagles will take on Diamond Hill-Jarvis at 7:45 PM. They have taken on Diamond Hill-Jarvis twice this year, so they are familiar with the team.

“We’ve tied Diamond Hill-Jarvis twice this year, so it’s just the mental aspect of knowing that,” junior defender Michael Rigsby said. “It might be hard to come in and beat them.”
