While when most people think of the most important part of a football team is its quarterback, they are overlooking the true heroes of those Friday night lights: the offensive line. With a bad Offensive line, it doesn’t matter how good a team is; they will lose every game. With no offensive line, the quarterback has no time to throw the ball and the running back has no lanes to run through.

This years O-line, better known as “Death Row,” is one of the better in Argyle history which is no small feat as the team is known for its tough and physical O-lines.  The group’s chemistry has plays a huge part of their success.

“Most of us have played together since the 6th grade,” senior Bryce Hege (64) said,”We know each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”

Of course you can’t bring up the success of a group without bringing up its talent and experience. The experience of this group is undeniable with 4 lineman having starting experience and the other playing extensively last year.

“We don’t have any weak links,” senior Jack Williams (74) said, “We are all strong and talented players so there is no one who hurts us on the line.”

The newest member of the O-Line is senior Gage Mallory (70) and is known as being the character in the group, but doesn’t let fun get in the way of the task in hand.

“Having fun is important, but you always need to work hard to be able to have fun,” Mallory said.

All in all, “Death Row” is poised to have a very successful playoff run, hoping to bring a state title back home, and while they are confident, they are trying to not get ahead of themselves.

“I feel that we are confident, but we can’t get cocky and lose sight of our goal,” Junior Caelan Keenan (65) said.

The O-line’s dominance is evident in every single game, and they hope to translate their strong regular season into playoff success.
