For the past few months, the choir has been training their voices; finding the right pitches and setting up equipment for their upcoming productions.

Although the choir program is only about a year old, its early success has brought it back, once again, for the 2016-2017 school year.

“I have faced the challenge of convincing kids around the school to give it a chance and try something new,” choir director Will Griswold said.

Even as a newcomer to the community, Griswold has orchestrated major improvements in the program, such as adding new members, expanding the program, and planning performances. Students who join the choir can expect to learn valuable life lessons, such as team building. The values that Mr. Griswold implements in his program stretches into students’ day-to-day lives.

“I have learned from the choir program to work as a team,” freshman Josh Burch said. “I really enjoy Mr. Griswolds class.”

The varied music and the challenging performances give students the confidence needed to succeed in their day-to-day lives. Many career choices require employees to stand in front of a crowd with poise and confidence.

“Choir has allowed me to get up in front of people and speak instead of just hiding away,” freshman Julie Norton said.

Griswold continues to plan upcoming concerts and searches for ways to promote and enhance the choir curriculum. The success and stability of the choir proves that it is a force to be reckoned with, and the program is as much a part of the community as any team. For the choir team, the lessons learned through music are worth more than any amount of applause.
