Hudson McCabe, Senior Reporter

On September 30th, ACL will kick off the first weekend of its annual music event. While last year’s festival was packed with amazing bands, like The Strokes, Tame Impala, UMO, and Gary Clark Jr., this year’s festival consists mostly of electronic bands such as the Chainsmokers. However, don’t be discouraged, there are still some great bands performing this year.

Must See Headliners:

Radiohead

Undoubtedly the most acclaimed band at this years festival, Radiohead, has been producing highly acclaimed, quality music for almost 30 years now. Kid A and Ok Computer are considered by some to be two of the greatest albums of all time. While they most likely won’t be playing Creep (which should disappoint a good amount of people who wander into the end of their set), they will be playing tracks from their newest album: A Moon Shaped Pool.

Kendrick Lamar

Saturday night’s major headliner, Kendrick Lamar, will perform songs from both of his newest albums, Untitled and To Pimp A Butterfly. This will be Kendrick’s second ACL performance, his last being in 2013. Kendrick will be performing most of his biggest hits: “Swimming Pools (Drank)”, “King Kunta”, and “B*tch Don’t Kill My Vibe”. The numerous grammy winner should definitely be a highlight of an overall disappointing festival.

Smaller Names you should check out:

Lincoln Durham

While he’s one of the smaller names at this year’s event, he will likely be putting on one of the most memorable shows. The Psycho Blues artist out of Texas has only been performing for a couple years now but he has released a couple of critically acclaimed albums, Revelations of a Mind Unraveling and Exodus Of The Deemed Unrighteous.

Wild Child

An Indie pop band out of California, Wild Child is a mostly acoustic band that utilizes beautiful harmonies to deliver memorable and unique sounding records. However, they are only performing the first weekend, so be sure to check your ticket, so you don’t miss out on this up and coming band.
