Banana Bread

This banana bread recipe is perfect for any occasion, especially cold fall mornings with a nice hot cup of coffee.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Crisco shortening
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 to 3 smashed bananas
- 2 eggs, separated
- 5 tbs buttermilk
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions
- Separate eggs. Beat egg whites until stiff and no longer foamy. Set aside.
- Mix Crisco, sugar, bananas, egg yolks, buttermilk, and vanilla.
- Add dry ingredients.
- Fold in egg whites.
- Brush a little butter or Crisco into whatever pan you choose to use.
- Bake at 325 degrees until light brown or until a toothpick comes out clean. (Helpful Hint: Whenever you start to smell whatever you are baking, it is almost done!)
Slice, add butter to taste, and enjoy!
