VERTS Grill Brings Mediterranean Cuisine to the DFW Area
July 20, 2016
For those tired of the typical burger, pizza, and Tex-Mex restaurants found in abundance in the DFW area, here is a new and fresh solution: VERTS Mediterranean Grill. This fresh grill brings the much needed healthy, plant-based Mediterranean cuisine to the Denton area. VERTS was founded in 2011 in Austin, TX by Michael Heyne and Dominik Stein, two young men from Germany hoping to bring European flavors to their new home in Texas. Since the original opening, 30 new restaurants have opened across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
The restaurant closely mimics Chipotle’s fast-casual style, starting with the option of a salad, wrap, pita, or rice bowl. Next, select a protein: beef and lamb, chicken, falafel, or beef meatballs. Then choose some toppings from a wide variety of fresh vegetables including cucumbers, spiced chickpeas, red cabbage, quinoa, and pickled red onions. Finally, to tie the entire creation together, select a sauce from options ranging from hummus to spicy cilantro to herb vinaigrette to spicy red pepper. For sides, VERTS offers fresh-cut fries, sweet potato fries, chips and hummus, a dip trio, and a brownie. Beverages include typical soft drinks as well as vitamin water, bottled soda, and iced coffee.
The atmosphere of VERTS is incredibly peaceful and open. Plants cover the room and add life to the open space. Massive windows allow natural light to flood the restaurant. In combination with the fresh food, the pair creates a relaxing and refreshing environment. Caribbean music playing quietly further adds to the chill theme of the restaurant. With founders from Germany, a foundation in Austin, Caribbean music, and Mediterranean cuisine, VERTS combines a plethora of cultures in one fresh and delicious restaurant. Prices range from $8-$18.
VERTS is located at 1715 S Loop 288, Denton, TX 76205. They are open every day from 11AM-10PM.
