FanDuel is a weekly fantasy football service where diehard or casual NFL football fans can win big. Players submit a lineup consisting of a QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, a kicker, and a defense. Each player costs a certain amount of bidding money, and every owner has up to $60,000 to spend on their team. Based on how many Fantasy points your team earns determines how much money you win.

Quarterback

There are a few places to get started when building your lineup, but the most important position is the QB. Usually, you want a player who has a favorable matchup against a bad secondary like the Jaguars or the Titans. A good QB will usually be able to pick apart an inexperienced secondary with ease, but that is not always the case. Any Quarterback over the price of $7,500 will do fine, but if there is a position to spend $9,000 on, it’s the Quarterback.

Running Back

With running backs, you can plug in a big name, but be vigilant on injury reports. Due to the constant hits running backs take, there are usually some good players that are beat up. If a backup running back is placed into the starting role and has both a good matchup and a decent offensive line, they will more than likely have a big game ahead of them.

Wide Receiver

Wide receivers are usually the hardest position to predict because of how heavily the position relies on touchdowns. However, you can make an educated guess by picking a receiver that is on a team with a good Quarterback and is playing a team with a poor secondary. FanDuel rewards half a point for every reception a player has, so chose someone that gets a lot of targets like Julian Edelman, Jeremy Maclin, or Keenan Allen. Deep threat players can be good but are risky choices because of their big play potential; don’t put more than one of these guys in your lineup.

Tight End

Tight Ends normally don’t have big games, but if you have enough remaining funds to get Rob Gronkowski, go for him. Otherwise, pick someone with big play potential like Jared Cook, Travis Kelce, or Charles Clay. Also, pick someone playing against the Bengals or Jaguars because of their weak linebacking core.

Kicker

Always pick a kicker that is attached to a good offense like the Packers or Patriots. Make sure they are in good weather conditions or a dome. Don’t go overboard here; look for a decent kicker who has been on a hot streak and is under $5,000. Josh Brown is always a good option as kicker.

Defense

When picking a defense, it’s all about the matchup. Find a bad or young Quarterback, and pick the opposing defense. This system usually works when you’re picking cheaper defense, but if you can afford Denver’s or Arizona’s defense, go for it. When picking a defense, don’t be a bandwagon fan and chose the Texans or Seahawks because both these teams do not translate well into the world of fantasy.

When making your lineup, there is no sure fire way to win your weekly league, but if you’re smart with your money and follow some of these tips, you’ll have a better chance than most other owners.
