Eagles defeat Ranchview at ‘Pink-Out’ Game

The Eagles defeated the Ranchview Wolves at the Argyle stadium on ‘Pink-Out’ night, Friday, October 9.

The first quarter began with the Eagles kicking the ball off to the Wolves. After the Wolves went three and out, Drew Estrada (3) scored the first touchdown of the night making the score 7-0. Ranchview quickly responded with a touchdown of their own, tying the score 7-7. With four minutes left in the first quarter, Taylor Sweatt (7) ran another touchdown to make the Eagles lead 14-7. Two and a half minutes later, John Tarwater (11) caught a touchdown making the Eagles lead 21-7.

The Eagles dominated the second quarter. Several big plays were made, including Gage McCook’s (5) 27 yard rush which lead to a touchdown. At 27-7, the Eagles continued their lead while the Wolves remained scoreless within the quarter. With thirty seconds left in the second quarter, Estrada scored his second touchdown, ending the first half with the Eagles leading 35-7.

J.C. Chalk (25) began the third quarter with a touchdown giving the Eagles a 42-7 lead. During the third quarter, Gage McCook had a 40 yard rush and a 34 yard rush that lead to Jake Pelton’s (21) touchdown making the score 48-7.

Pelton also scored the first touchdown of the fourth quarter with 6:30 minutes remaining. This made the score 56-7. With 2:50 minutes left in the fourth quarter, Matthew Horton (49)  intercepted a pass and ran for another Eagles touchdown, ending the game with a final score of 63-7.

“We came in this game saying we were going to play fast, and we really did,” senior Hudson Speed (27) said.

With such a victory, the Eagles will be ready to play Wilmer-Hutchins next Friday at Wilmer-Hutchins stadium.
