Edgefest 2015 Receives Great Reviews from Argyle Students

Edgefest is an outdoor music festival at the Verizon Theater in Frisco put on by 102.1 “the Edge”. This year, the festival included a combination of various genres including alternative rock, blues, indie folk, and singer-songwriter. With the diversity of the music selection in this year’s lineup, Edgefest rounded up over 20,500 audience members. Several students from Argyle attended the outdoor concert, including sophomore Halee Van Poppel.

“I loved every single part about Edgefest,” Van Poppel said. “From dancing to some amazing performers to just jumping to the upbeat music.”

Though all the musicians were able to get the crowds riled up, many students took a liking to certain band. Sophomore Evan peak named the popular electronic rock band “Awolnation” as his favorite performance of the night.

“Awolnation was the most memorable of the artists for me,” Peak said. “By the time they came on, the sun was down so it was nice and cool the whole time they were on stage. Plus the bass was so insane and everyone was really into it.”

Besides all the hype on stage of the talented artists, the festival had some additional excitement in the crowds. Halee Van Poppel describes her experience.

“Dirty Heads and Awolnation got their audiences so pumped up that everyone just went crazy,” Van Poppel said. “People were crowd surfing all at the same time and my friends and I couldn’t hold them so they all fell on our heads, and we all got shoved into a bunch of mosh pits… it was great.”

Sophomore Bryce Pilawski had a much less painful experience with crowd surfing.

“I got the chance to crowd surf while listening to one of my favorite bands, which was absolutely crazy,” Pilawski said. “I thought I was going to get dropped because I watched a lot of people fall, but I made it all the way through, and it was amazing.”

Across the board, Edgefest 2015 received amazing reviews and has been highly recommended to attend for next year.
