The Lady Eagles will be advancing to the 4A state semi-finals after sweeping the Melissa Cardinals in three straight sets. The Eagles, led by senior Katy Keenan, asserted their dominance and proved that they are deserving of their state tournament berth.

“It’s the best feeling,” Keenan said. “It’s what our goal has been this whole season, and to reach that, I can’t even put into words how excited we are for this.”

The Lady Eagles have put in a lot of time and effort into this win, and it is a significant achievement to be advancing to the final four. They are optimistic to see what next weekend will bring.

“It will be our best opponent so far,” sophomore Halee Van Poppel said. “It’s really exciting and I’m excited to see how it goes for us.”

The Lady Eagles took the first set by a narrow margin (25-23) and continued to played better as the game went on, taking the second 25-18. They played well as a team along with an exceptional performance from junior Alexa Bass. With this win the Lady Eagles feel they have the momentum to finish off their run with a state championship.

“I think our team played really well,” Bass said. “I think that we worked together as a team, and we weren’t playing as individuals, and we pushed through to the very end.”

Confidence is at an all-time high going into next week’s game, especially after the come from behind win in the third set (25-20) against Melissa.

“It was a really, really big win,” junior Eighmy Dobbins said. “They came out fighting, and I think we just fought a little bit harder, and I think that’s what pushed us through the win.”
