Wednesday, Nov. 19, marked Argyle’s first Day of Kindness to encourage random acts of kindness throughout the school. The day was sponsored and held by the National Honor Society as a way to raise money for charity. Organizations around the school, including Student Council, UNICEF, and the International Club, participated by collecting items for different charity drives. Along with these organizations, the senior class had a coat drive to give warm outerwear to those in need. Day of Kindness was a huge success as students all over the school participated by sending candy-grams to their friends, sold by the NHS.

“We wanted to do something really nice for our school,” NHS president Vanessa Zielinski said. “We thought that creating a day of kindness would be such a good way to show that Argyle students really do care and that we care about each other.”

NHS sponsor, Leighann Fenter, worked with Zielinski to prepare for the Day of Kindness and make sure it was a success. Their work, with the help of other participating students, made the day one to remember.

“I heard a few teachers tell me they heard students paying each other compliments,” Fenter said, “and they were excited to find candy on their lockers.”

With the success of the first annual Day of Kindness, many hope that the day is carried on and becomes a tradition for future classes.

“It wasn’t perfect,” Zielinski said, “but it is something we can work on and hopefully make into something that happens every year.”
