The Argyle Eagles aren’t accustomed to losing, having now ripped off 19 straight wins as a football team, including an undefeated state championship season last year. This week, the Eagles look to improve on their school record win streak with a 20th win against Graham.

“We have a really good tradition,” CB Zack Zembraski said. “We just really want to keep that going by making it 20.”

The team is aware that their accomplishment is worthy of attention, but they are more focused on preparing for the challenges each new week brings.

“It’s a nice statistic,” OL Austin Bergstrom said. “But we really don’t look at that because the past is the past. We just focus and prepare for the next game every Friday.”

The last time Argyle faced Graham, the Eagles killed their opponents 38-14 in the Semi-Finals to advance to the state championship game. Even with that convincing win, the Eagles aren’t taking the Graham game for granted.

“We have a nice offensive scheme,” Bergstrom said. “Coach Nanny has some new plays. Defensive wise, we’re just doing what we’ve been doing because they’ve done a great job, so we’ll be fine.”

Argyle hopes to be able to continue playing their type of football on defense while understanding that they’ll have to changes some things to offset Graham’s unique skill set.

“We put in some new plays for our defense,” Zembraski said. “Some new switches so that we can adjust for their offense. We’re just excited to play.”
