Anticipation for the weekend and the Friday night football game can make any student or teacher antsy to get out of school. Add to this school pictures, a pep-rally, broken intercoms, bus evacuation, and a lockdown drill, the first week of school ended with a busy last day.

School pictures were canceled due to a malfunction with the school’s intercom leading to the pictures being rescheduled to Thursday, Sept. 4. The morning classes were cut short by a school-wide bus safety drill and lockdown drill. Followed by the afternoon classes that were on pep-rally schedule, there wasn’t much room to get school work done.

“It is what it is,” said English teacher Leighann Fenter. “You just have to be flexible.”

Teachers aren’t the only ones affected by the crazy day of school; students like senior Emily Young, dealt with the chaotic day as well.

“It was a pretty crazy day because it was hard to get anything done in class,” Young said, “but also very exciting because it is our first game today.”

The day finished with a pep-rally to support the Eagle football team as they take on Abilene-Wylie for their first game of the 2014 season.

With the first week of school over, students and teachers prepare for the rest of the year ahead of them, prepared and ready to make the best of it.
