(Argyle, TX) The Eagles shut out rival Bulldogs, Abilene Wylie 38-0 in their first game of the season on Aug 30. The victory was a little sweeter having occurred on the Bulldogs home turf in Abilene, but the distance did not deter the fans from attending the game, and an almost full house showed up to support the Eagles.
The Eagles have emerged as the No. 4 team in class 3A. During the game, the Eagle offense scored five touchdowns, with points put on the board by Ian Sadler, Nick Ralston and Brandon Boyzuick. Senior Cole Hedlund contributed to the totals and also broke a school record by putting up a 57-yard field goal before halftime. Right now, AHS talent seems to be at the top of their game as the Dallas Morning News “HS Sports Day” has Boyzuick (passing), Ralston (scoring), Sadler (receiving and scoring), Cole Hedlund (scoring) and Hunter Treadwell (scoring) … all made the “Leaderboard” for division 3A.
The Eagle Defense held the Bulldogs to 157-yards total throughout the game.
This Friday, Sept. 6, the Eagles will face Nolan Catholic in a non-conference game. Ranked third among private school teams, the Vikings are 0-1 this year after suffering a bitter loss to Arlington Seguin by a narrow margin of 29-28.
The Eagles look to continue with their success this Friday with their first home game of the season.
