Our very own Stacy Short, The Talon media adviser at Argyle High School, was named a recipient of the Edith Fox King Award by the InterscholasticLeague Press Conference.
The award will be presented during annual ILPC state convention, held April 19-21 at The University of Texas
at Austin.
The Interscholastic League Press Conference, an affiliate of the University Interscholastic League, is one of the nation’s largest state high school associations of student newspapers, broadcasts, yearbooks and online news programs.
Short received the award for her outstanding contributions to scholastic journalism in Texas and dedication to her students.
The EFK Award is truly a special award because teachers are nominated by their colleagues.
Lewisville ISD journalism teacher Corey Hale, who nominated Short, wrote, “Her students have won many big-time awards, but just seeing their constant presence at state and national workshops and conventions, it’s clear how much Stacy and Argyle
journalism have made an impact on numerous lives at Argyle High School.”
ILPC director Alyssa Boehringer agrees. “Through my own career as a journalism teacher and as director of UIL journalism, I
could always depend on Stacy to help students and advisers and share helpful resources to make us all better teachers,” she said. “Whether it be in print journalism, online news, broadcasting, film or UIL journalism contests, Stacy developed her students into fierce competitors and incredible storytellers. She is more than deserving of this award.”
