Diaz will advance to the regional rounds on October 28 after qualifying at the district competition.

“Anthony probably has one of the strongest work ethics I’ve ever seen,” senior Dylan Hargroves said. “He’s very committed, he’s got a lot of heart.”

Although Diaz hurt his ankle during the district meet, he still managed to finish ninth overall. Last year, Diaz barely missed qualifying for the state competition and hopes to make it this season.
