In Highland Village, a new restaurant has opened called Grimaldi’s. It is a Brooklyn style pizzeria that serves New York style pizza. When my sister who is from Brooklyn came to visit over the holidays, she noticed the Grimaldi’s and said it was originally started in Brooklyn and it was a place I would absolutely have to try. I am very glad I took her advice because it has become a new favorite of mine. There are many toppings to choose from with three different sizes of pizza.
Visit the website to have a closer look at the menu here http://www.grimaldispizzeria.com/menu.aspx. The atmosphere of the restaurant is just between casual and dressy and the prices start at around $9. Not only do they serve pizzas, but also salads and calzones. Being that I am Italian, I had to go with the traditional pizza. For my toppings I chose to put on artichokes, pepperoni, and sun dried tomatoes.
My friend, senior Lizzy Surratt also tried the new pizza place and agrees it was delicious.
“I don’t traditionally like pizzas,” Surratt said. “So I decided to get a cheese calzone and it was amazing. I really liked the breading they used to make it.”
Another student from Argyle also really enjoyed the new restaurant.
“I went two nights in a row, it’s amazing,” sophomore JR Cargile said. “The mediterranean salad was really good and I loved my pizza too.”
Going with the traditional New York style pizza, each pizza has very thin crust that is cooked in a coal brick-oven. All in all the pizza was delicious and the service was delightful. The building’s exterior also has a nice patio that will be great for the warmer weather. I definitely suggest trying the new Grimaldi’s.
