Mr. Bryan Beene teaches U.S. History, AP Economics and AP Government. The Talon conducted a survey and deemed his answers most interesting, making him The Talon’s first “Feature Teacher” of the week.
Q: What is one (school appropriate) activity you do when you are not at school?
A: Falconry. I raise and train falcons to do my bidding. Also books (I read them).
Q: What has been one of your most awkward moments when teaching?
A: Once, Coach Rodgers sent me to the press box armed only with a can of wasp spray. I went from room to room killing wasp after wasp, but for every one I slew, two more would take its place. I escaped with my life only by agreeing to a terrible pact, whereby each year I must offer one unfortunate freshman as a sacrifice to sate their dreadful appetite.
Q: What college did you graduate from?
A: Texas A&M
Q: Describe your perfect date night.
A: I prefer my wife to be involved. And no wasps. And Asian food. But my wife doesn’t like Asian food, so maybe perfect means something we both like.
Q: If you weren’t a teacher, what profession would you choose and why?
A: Probably law. Then all my threats of legal action would have more credibility.
