On Friday, November 30, the Argyle Eagles faced school rival, the Celina Bobcats, in the Regional Semi-Finals, at Denton’s C.H. Collins Stadium.

The Argyle and Celina secondary’s played well against one another, however, the Argyle secondary was really exceptional, allowing only 96 passing to Celina’s Hunter Watson.

Celina’s Hunter Watson was able to connect to his number one wide receiver Noah Ross four times, for 51 yards and a score, and was able to complete two passes to the Freshman tight-end, Brady Cunningham, for 33 yards and a touchdown. Watson had completions from 3 other receivers four times for 12 yards. However, Senior Brenden Dixon was able to make one of the major turning points in this game, a key interception in the fourth quarter.

Argyle’s defense did have some downfalls in the run stopping defense, this time around against Celina, Logan Point was able to run for 130 yards and a touchdown against the Argyle defense, a massive improvement compared to a minuscule 21 yards, in the first matchup against the “Black Swarm” defense.

With the Argyle Defense dominating the second half, Senior Safety, Hayden Clearman, and Senior Cornerback, Blake Ramsey was the two leader’s on the Argyle defense to help the team get its 13 straight wins on the season. Clearman was able to collect 14 tackles, seven solo tackles, seven assisted, and Ramsey was able to collect his second 10+ tackle game of the season with 12, nine of the tackles were solo tackles and three were assisted. Senior Linebacker Chase Petter was able to collect 11 tackles and a tackle for loss against the Bobcats, his seventh 10+tackle game of the season and tenth game were he’s had at least one tackle for loss.

The Argyle offense was not able to move the ball as they have for almost the entire season, scoring a season-low three points in the entire first half. Though the offense had a slow start, they were able to get the offensive machine running, being led by Sophomore running back, Tito Byce. Byce had a season-high 35 carries, as he runs for his eighth 100+ yard game of the season, running for 132 yards and two scores.

Celina’s defensive-backs played exceptional in the first half, however, Bo Hogeboom was able to rally his team in the second half, to finish the game completing 20 passes off

37 attempts, for 242 yards and a game-winning touchdown to sophomore Cole Kirkpatrick. Kirkpatrick ended the game with six catches for 66 yards along with the game-winner. Hogeboom was also the most mobile he’s been all year rushing for a season-high 24 yards from four carries.

Senior Kicker Grant Shaw had a lot of opportunities to kick field goals, and extra points in this game, scoring eight points for this Argyle team, making a 27 and 30-yard field goals, and making two extra points.

On Friday, December 7, the Argyle Eagles will compete in the Regional Finals, against a team that the Eagles faced before, the Waco La Vega Pirates, at 7:00 P.M. at Midlothian Stadium, in Midlothian Texas.
