This week, six Argyle student athletes signed National Letters of Intent to further their athletic careers at the collegiate level. A lacrosse player, four football stars, and a horseback rider will all represent Argyle this fall at the Division I and Division III levels.

Christian Zarcone will be moving to Brookline, Massachusetts this summer. The senior lacrosse player will be attending Newbury College and will be a part of the school’s first recruiting class for lacrosse. Since Argyle does not have a lacrosse team, Zarcone competed with nearby Keller High School for the previous year.

This season’s only female signee, Payton Neiberger, has earned a scholarship to be on the SMU Equestrian team this upcoming year. SMU’s equestrian team is coming off a fantastic season in which they finished 5-0 in conference. Neiberger has been riding horses since she was a young girl, and has many years of experience under her belt. Neiberger is also the only athlete that will compete at the Division I level.

Two football players, Chase Estrada and Brent Uys, will both play at Trinity University out of San Antonio. Estrada was named to the 2nd Team All-District 4-4A offense, Academic All-State Team and won the Argyle Fighting Heart Award for 2017. Uys was recognized to the All-District 4-4A First Team Offense this past season.

Don Williams and Mason Thrash will attend McMurry University this upcoming fall. The duo will move to Abilene to play football for the WarHawks. Williams is coming off a fantastic season where he was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Team, 1st Team All-District 4-4A Offense and the Utility Player of the Year. Thrash was honored as the 2nd Team All-District 4-4A Defense for 2017.

Be sure to congratulate these students if you see them in the hall. We can’t wait to see the impact they have at the collegiate level. Good luck Eagles!
