A chamber of commerce is an organization that aims to further the interests of local businesses in a community. The Argyle Chamber of Commerce is shutting down due to lack of new members and little need.

The Argyle Chamber of Commerce is unnecessary at this point in time and should be closed.

Argyle is still a very small town, with few people and even fewer businesses. The small amount of businesses that Argyle is home to does not warrant having our own chamber of commerce. Despite a growing number of companies coming to Argyle, the majority of them (Fuzzy’s, Kimzie’s, Earl 377’s, etc.) are owned by the same people, John “Sparky” Pearson and his production company, diminishing the need for all of these restaurants to join a chamber of commerce. This is evident with the low number of members that the local chamber has. In addition to this, in this day and age of technology and social media, chambers of commerce are not needed as much to join communities together and spread the word about businesses.

The Argyle Chamber of Commerce closing is not an issue, and the businesses that claim Argyle as their home can always join the Flower Mound or Denton Chambers of Commerce, or form alternative unions.
