A quarter finalist in America’s Got Talent, freshman Avery Winter has a voice to impress which she recently showcased in her solo performance of ‘Beauty School Drop-Out’ in ‘Grease’.

“It’s probably one of my favorite roles I’ve ever done because it was such a fun part to play,” Winter said. “Being around all the people and all the seniors, it was really cool to be a freshman and be out there with a bunch of seniors and sophomores and all that kind of stuff.”

Winter’s parents recognized her passion for music very early on.

“She literally started singing when she began talking,” Avery’s mother Tammy Winter said. “Avery loved listening to music of all types and still does today. She could learn lyrics to songs very quickly and always seemed to be able to match pitch.”

‘On the Good Ship Lollipop’ rang through the Cactus Theater in Lubbock, Texas in Winter’s first public performance at the age of four.

“From that point on until now, being on stage and performing has been second nature to Avery,” Mrs. Winter said. “It has always just come so naturally to her. We’ve watched Avery’s passion for music and performing grow immensely over the course of time.”

Since her debut, Avery has performed at Six Flags, on the America’s Got Talent Stage, with the cast of Shrek as the voice of young Fiona, and most recently in Argyle High School’s production of “Grease”.

“We are very proud of Avery and her every accomplishment, being big or small,” Mrs. Winter said. “Avery has had some pretty amazing opportunities at getting to showcase her talent. With that being said, we are most proud at how she has kept true to her identity while remaining humble and grateful for those opportunities.”

With deep set passion for singing, Winter has high hopes for a future in the field.

“I’ve actually thought about [my career] a lot,” Winter said. “I’ve always wanted to be on Broadway now that I’ve done all these shows, so I do [see a future].”

Winter has deep rooted family support to guide her in the journey to a career in the music industry.

“We’ve tried to instill in her over the course of time that it’s not the event, big or small, that defines her talent and who she is, rather it is what she learns and takes away from the experiences and opportunities she is blessed with,” Mrs. Winter said. “We will be proud of Avery no matter the path she chooses as along as her heart is in it and she’s doing it for the right reasons.”

Whatever is next for the 15-year-old artist, a love for music will always hold a place in her heart.

“After AGT, it just became known to me that this is definitely what I want to do,” Winter said. “And when I was older I knew I was going to want to try out for The Voice and stuff like that. I’m always singing whenever you’re around me. It’s just made me who I am.
