As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, singles cringe at the sight of hearts, flowers, and the chocolate boxes covered in “I love you’s”. Yet maybe this Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be another lonely weekend. Here are a few ideas for groups of singles to do this weekend to make them feel a little less lonely.

1. Go to the Cinemark XD

The new theater is definitely something to rave about.  From the huge screen with crystal clear vision to the incredibly comfortable seats that you can easily relax in and forget your worries for the remainder of the movie. The perfect movie to see with a group of your friends this weekend would be How to be Single staring a few of Hollywood’s biggest names– Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson.

2. Take your favorite group of friends rollerblading–

Interskate Roller Rink in Lewisville is the perfect way to spend an evening with some of your closest friends. It is inexpensive, but it still highly entertaining for everyone. The rink usually plays some of the most popular music on the radio so skating the night away with your friends is highly recommended.

3. A popular, and entertaining, thing to do is host an “Anti- Valentines Day party–

Although it may sound a little weird, they have been reviewed to be very fun. From having a heart shaped piñata that will shortly be split directly in half to the hilarious decorative cookies with words that say slogans like “Hate you” or even “Love Stinks” the party is guaranteed to be a hit.

4. Have a giant baking night–

A famous way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is by baking items for your significant other, but what if you don’t have one? Well just get all your closest friends together and have a night to bake all of your favorite goodies.

5. Go to Petland in Frisco–

Petland in Frisco is an expense free place for people to visit and play with puppies. They have a variety of dogs that are all still in the “puppy phase” so simply spending five minutes with one of the pets will brighten anyone’s lonely weekend.

6. Treat yourself to a Valentines Day shopping trip–

Its hard to beat a day of shopping at North Park mall. The famous Dallas mall holds a variety of stores that can easily fill anyone’s day. North Park has stores like Lush, Urban Outfitters, Michael Kors, and even the Apple store. Therefore, a visit to Dallas would provide a day full of entertainment.

7. Have a Netflix marathon–

There is no better way to send away the feeling of loneliness like a Netflix marathon watching some of the most popular binge worthy shows. A few of the most popular ones are Revenge, Scandal, Grey’s Anatomy, Breaking Bad, and The Office.

So even if you don’t have a date for this year’s Valentine’s Day, there is still plenty to do to celebrate the holiday.
