Winter fashion is a major part of the seasonal trends. Beginning in mid October the style begin to shift from bright summer colors and shorts, to a darker color scheme and warmer clothes. Every year the trends change and only the best of last seasons styles last to the current year. Honorable mentions of these diseased styles include Ugg Boots, ankle length cardigans, and monogrammed fleeces. However styles that have stood the test of time and are still in style this year include riding boots and flannels.

“I personally really like a good ripped jean,” senior Eighmy Dobbins said. “I think high tops are very in; if you don’t want to go with a ridding boot, they’re a perfect addition to an outfit. Also the color of maroon is the rave this season for a lot of girls. Plus flannels are super cute because they’re great for tying around the waist or worn; either or.”

Winter fashion not only deals with clothes but also accessories. For example, the nail trend right now is Nexgen, a revolutionary type of nail polish that is light weight yet strong and durable. It is not as unhealthy for your nails as the original acrylic fake nail. With Nexgen, there’s an amazing variety of colors. However, the 2015/2016 color trend is a darker color palate; maroons, deep reds, and nude colors are the main colors being picked. Another popular accessory is the layering of several necklaces. Layering different necklaces that all range in length and style has become a very popular jewelry choice that is good for casual outfits or dressy occasions. Raw stones and Earthy materials are main features in necklaces, earrings, and rings.

“Sweaters and North Face jackets are good,” senior Ashley Ridenhour said. “Also I really like hats.”

Ridenhour was right about the hat trend. Big felt hats in colors like black and tan have become a hit sensation. They can turn a plain outfit into a chic, luxurious looking style. With the right accessories these hats can form a hip vibe.

Overall, 2015-2016 winter style consists of dark colors and a more relaxed vibe. This years style is fun for all girls to dress up and makes it hard to say goodbye to maroons and knits as the style transitions into spring and summer.
