Of Denton’s many culinary competitors, Seven Mile Cafe takes the crown with its delicious food and homey atmosphere. Though the restaurant has been there less than five years, it’s already made quite a name for itself, and for great reasons.

Let’s talk about what keeps the customers coming back for more: the food. The menu consists of both basic and unique items. For their typical breakfast/brunch choices, I recommend the tart yet utterly delicious blueberry pancakes. The freshly made pancakes are topped with powdered sugar and juicy blueberries. Not to mention, they’re always served warm. I’m not sure what more you could ask for. The cafe’s favorites come from their more unique side of the menu. The Migas–scrambled eggs with tortilla strips, jalapeños, chorizo, onions, tomatoes, cheese and avocado–have claimed the title for the most recommended by the public. If you’re searching for a healthy alternative, my favorite dish is the Oatmeal Creme Brûlée. Made with vanilla almond oatmeal and topped with fresh fruits, this plate is tasty and leaves you feeling good afterward.

Say you’re not in the mood for a full meal, but you’re up earlier than usual and want to make the most out of it. Enjoy a freshly roasted and brewed cup of coffee from the coffee bar. Both the hazelnut and the vanilla latte are a simple yet delicious ways to start your day. Though I’ve yet to try it, I’ve heard great things about the Stumptown Hairbender–a blend that combines flavors of milk chocolate, caramel, jasmine, meyer lemon, apricot, and pineapple.

The atmosphere of the restaurant feels just like home–in fact, the building used to be a home until the owners renovated it into the cafe. The art and decoration are modern and cool, as are the waiters and customers. Seven Mile is certainly a go to place for my friends and I when we want to catch up or just enjoy a nice environment. On weekends, the cafe fills up quickly and the parking becomes scarce, so I recommend coming in before 10:00 to beat the crowd.

The coffee bar opens at 7:30 and the cafe opens at 8:00. Seven Mile Cafe is located at 529 Bolivar St in downtown Denton.
