This summer Dallas will be hosting many concerts at several venues including Gexa, House of Blues, and the Granada theatre.

Dallas, being a major U.S. city, is a hot spot for both popular acts and up-and-coming artists.

High school students are highly anticipating the opportunity to see some of their favorite acts perform live. And there is still some time left.

“I’m going to see Wiz [Khalifa] in a couple months,” Sophomore Anjelica Delong said. “It’s probably going to be the best concert I’ve ever been to.”

A great deal of hype has been placed around the Wiz Khalifa, Fall Out Boy co-headlining tour currently making the rounds this summer, with many AHS students specifically looking forward to this show. Among those planning to be in attendance is Tatiana Morris, another Argyle sophomore.

“I’m planning to go to the Wiz concert at Gexa in July,” Morris said. “He’s so talented!”

People aren’t exclusively looking forward to seeing familiar artists, however. For many people the draw of concerts may simply be the experience itself, and not the person playing the shows.

“Being able to hear the music live and feel the energy of the crowd is what makes a great concert,” Hannah Wildeveld said. “I just love the sound of live music.”

Even if the concert doesn’t cater to their own listening habits, many students will find other reasons to go and have fun anyway.

“I love meeting new people,” Morris said. “I also like going to hang out with my friends, and sometimes I like some of the songs even if I don’t like the artist.”
