Sports are a great way to stay active, meet friends, and enjoy some healthy competition. However, some very talented athletes are taking their abilities to the next level by going on to play college sports like Jesse Sheridan, Delany Sain, and Katy Keenan. Sheridan explains why she plans to continue her athletic career.

“I fell in love with Michigan State and all of the coaches,” Sheridan said. “The players are amazing, and I just feel really at home there.”

Senior Katy Keenan, attending Texas Tech, speaks of her greatest inspiration that helped her decide to play volleyball in college.

“Sawyer Camillo was my biggest role model/mentor when I was a sophomore,” Keenan said. “Her dream was to play in the big 12, and she was never able to due to her back injury. Once she told be “you will be a great volleyball player and I’m going to live out my dream of big 12 volleyball through you.” Whenever I’m having a rough day and I want to quit, I just remember Sawyer and what she said. It always reminds me of what I’m really working for, and that’s why I’m going to play volleyball in college.”

Senior Delaney Sain talks about what influenced her to play in college.

“I just enjoy the game of basketball and how fast paced it is,” Sain said. “I’ve played since I was in first grade, so I can’t imagine doing anything else.”

Along with the excitement of leaving the small town of Argyle, Sheridan is looking forward to other things.

“I’m excited to continue to play the game I enjoy while being surrounded by new friends and new experiences,” Sheridan said.

Though excited, Keenan shares some of her nerves concerning the oncoming events.

“I know the workouts will be really tough and it will be difficult to balance my school work and volleyball during the fall, but I also know that I can do it,” Keenan said.

The Argyle community is looking forward to seeing where these athletes careers will go.
