There are a handful of people that get to be at the top in the world for a sport.

Senior Brendan Mitchell and sophomore Gentry Cole got to experience “being at the top” on Sept. 19-23.

Gentry and Brendan’s families traveled together on Sept. 12th for Sydney, Australia to be a part of something very exciting.

Both trained on outdoor rocks as well as an indoor gym to prepare for the competition held in Noumea, New Caledonia, a French island off the coast of Australia.

Gentry competed in one climbing discipline (Speed) and finished 9th in the world.

Brendan competed in two climbing disciplines (Speed and Sport), finishing 4th in speed and 12th in sport.

“It was a really good experience, and I was very excited,” Gentry said. “I’m training 15 hours a week to prepare for the Pan American championships.”

The whole Argyle community is proud of the two and are rooting for them all the way from Texas!

Both boys will travel to Mexico City during Thanksgiving week to compete at the Pan American Championships.
